Micrologic
manufactures computerized ticketing or fare collection
system for masstransit busway or train systems. The system
uses magnetic cards or contactless smart cards with single-pass
or stored value capabilities.
A typical system consists of card-controlled
turnstile entry and exit units and ticket dispensing units connected
to a station computer server through a Local Area Network (LAN).
Stations are then networked with
each other through a fiber-optic Wide Area Network (WAN) with
the main server located in the central station.
Transactions from all the stations are captured into the main
server's database. This acts as a back-up, and facilitates timely
generation of reports.
For
maximum efficiency, Micrologic uses contactless smart cards for
both single and stored value applications. Transactions of one
second per passenger is possible and the high maintenance associated
with magnetic stripe cards is avoided. The cards are also very
secure and can accommodate other applications such as car park
and gas station transactions.
