Micrologic Toll Collection Terminal

The Micrologic Toll Collection Terminal is the heart of the system. Housed inside the toll booth, it comes in a rugged stainless steel design suitable for the rough semi-outdoor environment in highways, bridges and skyways. Its simple panel design makes it user friendly and easy to operate even by the most inexperienced toll personnel. A built-in dot matrix type printer is available for issuing receipts to the motorists upon payment of toll fees. It also has a parallel port for connecting an external printer, if necessary.

During operation, the toll operator simply swipes thesubic-term.jpg (10086 bytes) magnetic card onto a built-in reader to record the vehicle's entry point and compute the corresponding toll fee. The terminal has an indoor fee display to show the amount that the motorist is supposed to pay. Depending on the user's need, an outdoor fee display may be installed.

Each terminal provides built-in software functions for recording various transactions and other functions needed for an efficient toll system operation. Its flexible design allows system changes to answer future expansion or simply address specific customer needs. These include installing a video monitoring system, ETC, AVC, or the smart card system. The Micrologic Toll Collection Terminal can connect to various external peripheral devices, such as the automatic barrier, vehicle counter, external printer, cash drawer, Smart Card Reader, vehicle sensor and others.

Toll System Configuration. Using 10BASE-T compliant UTP cabling, one or more Micrologic Toll Terminals can be networked to a toll plaza computer for real-time retrieval and storage of transactions. This configuration will allow close monitoring of operator activities and toll transactions.

In addition, the terminal can function as a stand-alone unit. It is equipped with single or dual diskette drives to serve as back-ups for storing transaction information. This is ideal for low cost applications, wherein transaction data are recorded in secondary storage media, such as diskettes.

Reliability and Serviceability. The Micrologic Toll Terminal is designed for a continuous 24-hour operation. It can be connected to a UPS to keep it running even during power interruptions. There is an internal back-up battery for storing system information such as toll fees, date and time. For safety, it provides built-in lightning and surge proctection on power lines and LAN interface cablings. Its modular design allow easy serviceablity and on-site maintenance.
