The system eliminates ticket-based manual toll collection methods which are prone to errors, fraud and accounting nightmares. It is highly cost-effective and pays for itself in a short period of time due to the substantial improvement in collection efficiency.percard.JPG (6659 bytes) Micrologic's toll collection method through the magnetic card system uses the following :

Single-pass Magnetic Cards. The motorist is issued a magnetic stripe card at the entrance. The entry point is encoded on the card by the operator using the Micrologic Entrance Terminal. At the exit, the motorist surrenders the card and the Micrologic Exit Terminal reads the card and computes the toll fee. The operator accepts payment and a receipt is printed. All transactions are stored on the diskette of the Exit Terminal. The cards are re-used by returning them to the Entrance Gates.

Stored Value Cards. The motorist purchases magnetic cards with pre-stored values from the Toll Operator's retail outlets or a Toll Plaza. To use the Tollway, the motorist simply gives his card to the Entrance Operator and his entry point is encoded on the card. At the exit terminal, the card is also given to the Operator; the toll fee is computed and automatically deducted from the value stored in the card. The Operator then returns the card to the motorist with the updated balance.
